Sensational Kids and Transition Year

We were visited by Emer Moore one of the founding members of Sensational kids, a charity that provides affordable services for children with special educational needs. Realising that parents were finding it very difficult to access services such as occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, educational psychology assessments and literacy teaching, Sensational Kids provides these services at a minimum cost. Emer discussed these services and the educational materials that may be bought in the Sensational Kids shop. Parents found sourcing good toys that would assist a child’s sensory and intellectual development was a challenge. This problem has been solved by the shop whose profits are ploughed back into the services of the therapy centre. We really enjoyed this talk and Emer made it even more interesting by allowing us to try out some of the equipment! Our sincere thanks to Emer for taking the time to come to talk to us.
