Students Participate in Active Age Week
On Thursday October 1st a class of 27 students made the short trip fro their school to the Parish Centre for an Active Age meeting and talk.
The students took time out to serve teas, coffees, cakes, biscuits and assorted sandwiches to the elderly of Kilcullen. The meeting took place in Kilcullen Parish Centre and ran from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm. In that time young mixed with older and an atmosphere of relaxed happiness descended.
The food and drinks were followed by entertainment provided by all. Songs were sung, music played and waltzes danced. Irish dancing was provided by Emer Byrne, Vanessa Broderick, Rachel Fisher and Jayne O'Brien. The entire class then sang "The Fields of Athenry" and Amhran na bhFiann".
The event, which was a resounding success, was organized between Age Action Ireland, the Parish and the School. It was described as "cool", "interesting" and "good craic" by the students.
