The Fifth Year Economics class recently welcomed Mary White to our school. Having only recently been promoted to the ministerial ranks, Mary spoke to the students about her new portfolio, the Department of Equality, Integration and Human Rights. The Minister gave an enthusiastic talk about environmental issues. As deputy leader of the Green Party, Mary explained the ethos of the party and told the students how she got involved in politics.
It was fascinating to hear about the work of a Government Minister. The students asked a lot of questions about many issues and it proved to be a most educational experience for the class. The Minister offered an interesting insight into the economic situation in Ireland and put forward her vision for a recovery in the future.
Thanks to Mary for taking the time out of a busy schedule to visit our school and for giving a very positive message to the students.
