5th Year LCVP Punchestown Kidney Research Fund

5A recently welcomed James Nolan, Darren Cawley and Sonia Treacy to CPC. James has established a charity called the Punchestown Kidney Research Fund (PKRF) to raise funds and awareness of kidney disease. This enterprising initiative came about as James underwent a kidney transplant 23 years ago, and wanted to promote organ donor awareness as well as provide financial assistance to research in the area of kidney disease. The students learned about the wonderful work carried out by the charity and it was a great insight for them. The two accompanying speakers, Darren and Sonia, are currently undergoing dialysis and this will be ongoing until they are fortunate enough to get a transplant.
Darren and Sonia spoke so positively to the students and were truly inspirational to us all.
A sincere thank you to James, Darren and Sonia for the visit and we wish them well for the future.
