Dr Susan Bergin of Kilcullen is to receive a National Award for Excellence in Teaching this month.
Susan, who is a past pupil of Cross and Passion College, will be presented with the Award by the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese, on behalf the National Academy for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning.
She is one of five awardees, and has been selected for the honour for her work in the Computer Science Department of NUI Maynooth.
The University says that her integration of research with teaching has been so successful that the rate of student retention in her department is now one of the highest in the college.
