First Year Passover Meal

Recently in class we had a Passover meal as part of our study of religious festivals in the religion of Judaism. We had a Seder plate containing symbolic foods such as lamb, bitter herbs, egg etc. Each food symbolises an important part of the Exodus story. We also drank lemonade instead of wine and ate matzah bread/flat bread. We played traditional Passover games like finding the hidden piece of matzah for a prize and listened to the youngest child ask questions about the meaning of the festival.
We all really enjoyed the experience and learned a lot from actually taking part in a Jewish celebration. The setting up of the room and the cooking of the food was carried out by two fifth years Niamh Hayes and Harlei Martin.
