Senior Boys GAA win Leinster final again
Leinster Colleges Senior C Football Final
Cross & Passion, Kilcullen: 2-12
Clonkeen College, Blackrock: 3-7
Cross and Passion College Kilcullen are the Leinster Schools Senior C champions for the second year on the trot after a two point victory over Clonkeen College from Blackrock in last week's final played in Blessington.
The victory was all the sweeter considering we were forced to finish out this encounter a man in arrears with 15 minutes left on the clock. CPC had a commanding seven point advantage at this stage and the lads kept their cool and the lead to ensure the provincial title remained in Kildare for another year at least.
No less than ten players survived from the team of '09 and the experience of winning twelve months earlier certainly reaped dividends this time round. Kildare minor stars Padraig Fogarty and Fionn Dowling pushed hard for the man of the match award, while net minder Fran Shortt put in a sterling performance, as did Paul Bell, Seamus Pembroke and Daniel Fisher.
Cross and Passion now face Kerry champions, Pobalscoil Inbhear Scéine of Kenmare in the All Ireland semi final this Saturady at 2pm in Cashel, Co. Tipperary
Scorers: Seamus Pembroke 2-1, Padraig Fogarty 0-6,
Fionn Dowling 0-3 (2f, 1 '45), Paul Bell 0-1, Keith Kinsella 0-1.
Cross and Passion College:
Fran Shortt (Kilcullen); David Nolan (Suncroft), Chris Walsh (Kilcullen), Lorcan O'Rourke (Suncroft), Shane Molloy (St Laurence's), Daniel Fisher (Kilcullen), Shane O'Connor (Kilcullen); Fionn Dowling (Suncroft), Paul Bell (Kilcullen); Ronan Toft (Kilcullen), Keith Kinsella (Round Towers), John Keatley (Kilcullen), Kelvin McNally (Moorefield), Padraig Fogarty (St Laurence's), Seamus Pembroke (Kilcullen). Subs: David Keane (Kilcullen) replaced D Nolan 42 mins, James Fahy (St Laurence's) replaced K McNally 55 mins, Adam Phelan (Kilcullen) replaced S O'Connor 61 mins.
