Equine Education Day for Post-primary Students

On Monday 22nd March, some students from 5th and 6th Year attended an education morning for post-primary school students in the Curragh Racecourse. This was centred on the equine industry and we were told such things as what exactly R.A.C.E. was and what a trainee's typical day would entail. We were shown the preparations needed behind the scenes before a jockey is ready for the parade ring. A charity race was organised where R.A.C.E. trainee jockeys were accompanied by R.A.C.E. graduate and Champion Jockey Johnny Murtagh to give them the experience of taking part in a race. A presentation was made to all participants in the race. It was a very interesting day, seeing what exactly goes on behind the scenes.
