Poetry Workshop and Slam

Stephen Murray, a poet from Youth Speaks facilitated workshops over two days. He was a fantastic poet who shared some of his poetry with us before encouraging us to write our own poems. We used drama to help us generate ideas and were delighted to be able to express ourselves freely. We then had a Poetry Slam, where everyone who wished to share their poem could do so. Four students, Jack Rigby, Zainab Afolabi, Conor McMahon and Shane Bennett were selected to represent the school at the regional final which will be held on 8th May in the Axis Theatre, Ballymun. We have all realised that poetry doesn’t have to be boring, it can be great fun and really help people express their feelings.
