Visitor from Dutch Embassy for Europe Day
We were honoured to be one of the few schools chosen by the European Commission to host Ambassadors from other European countries to talk about Europe Day on May 9th. Mrs Kanta Adhin explained the role of the European Union to us and used a very good analogy of the European Union as a friendly giant that is here to help all of us while respecting the laws and belief systems of each country. She also explained the position and role of the Netherlands within the Union. Our sincere thanks to Mrs. Adhin for taking time out of her busy schedule to visit us.
Kanta Sh Adhin, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, came to CPC to talk to TY students about the EU. She is pictured here (third from left) with Glenda Carey, Daniel Cady, Rebecca Browne, CPC Principal Paul Tyrrell, and deputy Principal Noel Clare. Brian Byrne/Kilcullen Diary. TY Equine Studies May 2010
4A recently welcomed the Irish Independent Racing Correspondent Damien Mc Elroy to CPC as part of their Equine Studies module. Damien advised the students about a career in journalism and gave useful tips about how to get involved in media work. The students asked a lot of questions and Damien regaled us with interesting stories. It was a very interesting insight into the work of a leading sports journalist. Thanks to Damien for taking the time to visit our school.

5th Yr Economics April 2010
Lorna Weightman, a past pupil, visited CPC to talk to the students about her work with the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA). In the course of a very interesting talk, Lorna also advised the students about study skills and exam technique. It is always a pleasure to welcome back our past pupils and thanks to Lorna for taking time out of a very busy schedule to visit the school.

29/4/10 Equine Studies
4A visited Gilltown Stud just outside Kilcullen and enjoyed a tour of the stud farm. The students saw the three resident stallions – Sea The Stars, Dalakhani and Azamour and some mares and foals. Sea The Stars was the champion 3 year old racehorse in the world in 2009. Julie White showed the students around and answered lots of questions. It was a very interesting and enjoyable visit in the lovely grounds of Gilltown. Thanks to Julie and the staff at Gilltown for making it possible.
